Annual property tax collections in North Dakota increased 34% from 2000 to 2009.  The downturn in collections in 2009 can be attributed to the “property tax relief” plan which became law in 2009.
The sum total of taxable valuations in North Dakota increased 64% from 2000 to 2009.

This chart shows the percentage of mills levied for the purposes of property taxes by jurisdiction in North Dakota in 2010.
In 2002, school districts levied the highest number of mills of all property taxing jurisdictions. Counties levied the second most.
This chart shows the percent increase/decrease in property tax revenue by property taxing jurisdictions between 2008 and 2009. While the property tax relief plan decreased school district revenue from property taxes by 27%, growth in other local budgets led to a smaller overall property tax decrease of 12%.
